Frequently Asked
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Start by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). We’ll review your goals and readiness, then book a short conversation if there’s alignment.
Is AIM for my child — and what ages do you coach?
AIM supports athletes aged 12+ across junior, youth, and emerging elite pathways. Placement depends on training history, maturity, goals, and readiness.
Is AIM an athletics club?
No. AIM is a coaching programme. Athletes continue to represent their school and Athletics NZ-affiliated club, or overseas equivalent.
How are athletes selected for AIM programmes?
Selection is readiness-based. We consider goals, training history, commitment, movement quality, competition level, and alignment with the appropriate AIM pathway.
What is your coaching philosophy?
AIM prioritises long-term athlete development—evidence-based training, technical excellence, intelligent load management, and athlete wellbeing. Our seasonal structure supports this, but the focus is on building sustainable performance over time.
Do athletes stay registered with their school or club?
Yes. Athletes remain registered with their school and club. AIM provides coaching support alongside the athlete’s existing competition pathway.
Ready to Train with Purpose?
If you are a junior, youth, or emerging elite athlete looking for structured athletics coaching in Wellington, AIM can help you build the habits, technique, and race execution needed for long-term performance.
