About AIM

Who We Are

AIM – Athletes In Motion is a high-performance athletics coaching organisation based in New Zealand and working with athletes nationally and internationally.

We exist to support athletes who are serious about their development and who understand that elite performance is built through consistency, intent, and long-term thinking. AIM is not an athletics club. Athletes compete through their own Athletics NZ–affiliated clubs (or overseas equivalents).

AIM delivers high‑performance athletics coaching for athletes preparing for local, national, and international competition pathways.

From early performance development to NZ Secondary School ChampionshipsNZ Junior and Senior ChampionshipsWorld Junior pathways, and US College scholarship aspirations, we support athletes who are ready to train with intent, discipline, and long‑term vision.

Independent coaching. Athlete‑centred development. Performance built to last.

What We Do

As a New Zealand–based, independent coaching organisation specialising in elite and emerging‑elite athletics development, our role is clear – prepare athletes to perform at their best within there local and international competition environments.

This model allows us to focus on high performance, work with athletes across multiple clubs, regions, and countries, while maintaining strong governance, safeguarding, and accountability.

Who We Work With

  • Ambitious youth athletes (12+)
  • Junior and senior athletes targeting national championships
  • Athletes pursuing World Junior or US College scholarship pathways
  • Families seeking structured, professional coaching support
  • International athletes accessing virtual high‑performance coaching

Our Coaching Philosophy

Elite performance is not accidental

At AIM, our philosophy is grounded in:

  • Long-term athlete development over short-term results
  • Technical excellence, mechanics and movement efficiency (TechNIQUE)
  • Evidence-based training and load management
  • Athlete wellbeing, safety, and psychological sustainability

We believe:

  • Strong foundations create resilient, adaptable athletes
  • Progression is individual, not linear
  • Wellbeing and performance are inseparable.
  • Training decisions are made with the athlete’s whole journey in mind — not just the next race.

Athlete Wellbeing & Safeguarding

Athlete wellbeing sits at the centre of everything we do.

AIM maintains:

  • Safeguarding framework aligned to best practice
  • Police-vetted coaching support
  • Age-appropriate communication and engagement standards
  • Clear processes for raising concerns or complaints

For athletes under 18, parents and guardians are recognised as essential partners in the athlete’s development and wellbeing.

Wellbeing always takes precedence over performance outcomes.
