Welcome to the AIM Athletics Blog (NZ) — a fun, energetic space where we share the stories behind what we’re building at AIM – Athletes in Motion.

If you’re a parent, athlete, or supporter, this blog is designed to bring you closer to the journey: the training blocks, the meet weekends, the breakthroughs, the lessons, and the moments that shape real progress. You’ll see athlete growth celebrated properly — not just with times on a page, but with the context that makes performance meaningful.

What AIM is

AIM is a high-performance athletics coaching programme based in Wellington, New Zealand, supporting athletes across sprints (100–400m) and middle distance (800–3000m).

Our purpose is simple: build athletes deliberately — with high standards, technical excellence, and a long-term view. We care about performance, but we care even more about building athletes who can sustain it.

What this blog will cover

This blog is not meant to be overly serious or complicated. It’s a place for real updates and real stories, including:

Athlete stories and development

We’ll highlight progress across the season — the wins, the learning, the consistency, and the moments when athletes level up.

Meet recaps and key moments

From local meets to major championships, we’ll share the story of competition weekend: what went well, what we learned, and what we’re focusing on next.

Athlete of the Meet

Some weekends deserve a special mention — not always for medals, but for execution, courage, improvement, leadership, or composure under pressure.

New signings and AIM updates

When athletes join AIM, we’ll share why — and what we’re building together. We’ll also post team updates and important programme milestones.

Athlete maintenance and support

Performance isn’t just training. We’ll share helpful information on topics like physiotherapy, chiropractic support, recovery habits, strength foundations, and athlete wellbeing — in a way that makes sense for youth and junior athletes.

How AIM fits with schools and clubs

AIM is a training and coaching organisation — not a club. Athletes continue to represent their schools and their Athletics NZ–affiliated clubs in competition. AIM provides the training environment, preparation systems, and performance support that sits alongside those competition structures.

Performance with purpose

We’re proud of what AIM athletes are doing — but our bigger focus is what those performances represent: discipline, preparation, resilience, and learning to execute when it matters.

If you’re following along, thank you for being part of the community. If you’re new here, welcome — we’re excited to share this journey with you.
